Chad shifted nervously, “No,” he chuckled. “I was just asking.”

Brad cocked his head to one side and raised one eyebrow as he gave Chad a puzzled look. Chad noticed Brad looking at him and he cleared his throat, “Come on, Brad. What are you waiting for?” Chad asked as he quickly started walking towards the woods.

Brad caught up to him and as they gained some distance between them and Sue, he whispered, “What was all that about?”

“Well,” Chad whispered back as he started to jog a little. “You’re little, lucky rabbit’s foot has lit up twice.” He shot Brad a little smile.

“What?” Brad asked jogging next to him. “What do you mean ‘lit up’?” He pulled the backpack off his shoulder to look at the rabbit’s foot.

“Yeah,” said Chad, “Lit up, like...” he paused searching for the right words and motioning with his hands, “like a light.”

Brad looked at the rabbit’s foot, “When did it do that?”

“Once when Sue told us the direction to go hunting for eggs,” Chad explained, “and then just now when she said something about only wanting one egg.”

“Well, what if this girl is just some crazy lunatic who has no idea what in the world she is doing or where she is going? I mean,” Brad continued slowly and stopped jogging, “she could be a serial killer.” Brad stood there nodding his head at Chad with raised eyebrows and wide open eyes.

Chad stopped jogging and they both glanced toward Sue. Chad squinted his forehead as he watched Sue push her glasses up on her nose. “You know, I think you’re right,” he whispered back to Brad in a mocking, scared tone. “Perhaps she just goes to college and acts like a nerd to lure cool guys like us into the woods on Easter.”

Brad looked at Chad and realized his sarcasm. “Hey, all I know is the last time there was a girl involved in our lives, we ended up in a jail in Mexico at Christmas.”

“We wished for those girls, remember?” Chad reminded him.

Brad sighed and said, “Yeah, but this one talks sooo much and I can’t understand her.”

“Well, neither can I,” Chad said, “But it’s like someone said one time, ‘ By the time a guy is done talking for the day, a girl is just starting’.”

“Ugh,” Brad moaned, “you mean she’s not even started yet?”

“All I know, Brad, is that I think we just completed part of the task when we met her,” Chad replied. “Thanks to your lucky rabbit’s foot.” Chad flicked the rabbit’s foot on Brad’s backpack. “You actually did something right!”

Brad patted himself on the back, “I am known for my brilliance.”

Chad scoffed, “Except when you need help on your math.”

Brad whined, “Hey, that stuff doesn’t make sense to me. Besides I’m known for my quick feet on the soccer field, not my quick adding and subtracting.”

“Well, you know what this means?” Chad asked with a big grin. “With part of the task already completed, we might be able to get some eggs for ourselves after all!”

“Yeah!” cheered Brad.
